Jammu/Pulwama, May 2: Taking serious note of what it termed as “irresponsible and unruly behaviour” on social media, Pulwama Police has issued a stern advisory warning users and sections of the media against sharing or circulating videos and photographs of the tragic incident involving a minor who slipped into a stream and whose body was retrieved on Friday.
Police expressed strong concern over the growing tendency among some users to chase views and engagement at the cost of human dignity, stating that the circulation of such distressing content reflects a complete disregard for ethical norms and societal sensitivity.
In a firm directive, authorities ordered all individuals who have uploaded or shared such material to remove it immediately, warning that failure to comply will result in strict legal action under relevant laws.
“Such conduct is not only morally unacceptable but also legally punishable,” the advisory stressed, adding that amplifying tragedy for online traction amounts to exploitation of human suffering.
Pulwama Police underlined that sharing graphic or sensitive visuals deeply aggravates the pain of the bereaved family and violates the dignity of the deceased. Citizens were urged to exercise restraint, responsibility, and empathy while using social media platforms.
Reiterating its commitment to uphold law and public decency, Pulwama Police said it stands firmly with the grieving family and will not hesitate to act against those found violating norms in pursuit of online attention.
