Peoples Democratic Party leader and Pulwama MLA, Waheed ur Rehman Para, has criticized the Omar Abdullah-led government for delaying the clearance of pending compassionate appointment cases in Jammu and Kashmir. “Why are 928 SRO-43 cases and 1,279 RAS cases for compassionate appointments still gathering dust in the Chief Minister’s General Administration Department?” he questioned.
Referring to a recent move by J&K LG Manoj Sinha, Para said that just as the LG recently used special powers to appoint hundreds of victims of terror, the Chief Minister of J&K, under existing provisions, also has the authority to relax rules and clear these pending cases.
He emphasized that these are not merely files, but the stories of families who have lost their sole breadwinner and now face an uncertain, desperate future.
He stated that every day of inaction prolongs the suffering of these families. Many have no resources, no connections, and no way to navigate a slow and complex bureaucracy. “Compassionate appointments were meant to provide dignity and survival, not be buried under procedural delays and technical excuses,” he asserted, insisting, “It is time to act, @OmarAbdullah.”
