Tight security has been deployed around Bakshi Stadium, the main venue for Independence Day celebrations in Jammu and Kashmir, to ensure a smooth and incident-free event.
A full dress rehearsal of the parade was held on Wednesday at the stadium, where Divisional Commissioner V K Bhiduri took the salute during the march past.
“We have put in place multi-tier security arrangements for the Independence Day celebrations. High-rise spotters have been deployed to maintain constant vigilance,” Inspector General of Police, Kashmir Zone, V K Birdi, told reporters after the full dress rehearsal.
He added that all possible scenarios have been considered while drafting the security plan to ensure a peaceful Independence Day.
Following the parade rehearsal at the stadium, artists and schoolchildren performed in a cultural programme showcasing the diversity of Jammu and Kashmir.
