Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Friday strongly rejected allegations of “backdoor appointments” made by PDP president Mehbooba Mufti, stating that the government will soon present the full facts before the public.

Responding to the accusations, Omar Abdullah said the charges were politically motivated and compared them to “the pot calling the kettle black,” adding that similar practices were allegedly prevalent during previous administrations.

He claimed that many irregular appointments had taken place in earlier governments, including cases that were later struck down by courts, and said the present administration would not allow baseless allegations to go unanswered.

The Chief Minister challenged the PDP to provide evidence supporting its claims, stating that even a single verified case would be sufficient for a detailed response. He maintained that the government had already compiled all relevant information and would soon make it public.

Omar Abdullah further announced that two senior ministers would address the media within the next one to two days to clarify the situation and present the government’s position in detail.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister also participated in Ashura commemorations in Srinagar, joining Shia mourners at Zadibal during the tenth day of Muharram. He paid tributes to Hazrat Imam Hussain (AS), highlighting the message of sacrifice, justice, and moral values.

He also reiterated efforts to restore the traditional route of the Ashura procession, expressing hope that ongoing attempts would eventually succeed. (AGENCIES)
