Srinagar, Mar 13: The Jammu and Kashmir cabinet on Thursday unanimously condemned the attack on Farooq Abdullah, president of the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference, and called for a thorough investigation into the incident.
According to an official spokesperson, the cabinet also approved an 18 percent increase in passenger vehicle fares, a long-standing demand of transporters over the past five years. While transporters had sought a 50 percent hike, the government cleared an 18 percent rise.
The spokesperson added that the government is also putting 200 additional buses on the roads to improve public transport services.
The cabinet further approved an increase in TA/DA and medical allowances for ministers, MLAs, the Speaker and the Leader of Opposition (LoP), he said.
Regarding the ongoing LPG concerns, the spokesperson said there is adequate LPG stock in Jammu and Kashmir and urged people not to panic. He appealed to the public to cooperate with authorities, adding that special teams have been formed to prevent any possible black marketing. (Agency)
