Massive Anti-Drug Awareness Rally Held at Marheen-Hiranagar Under NMJKA

Kathua, May 08: In a major push against drug abuse, Deputy Commissioner Kathua Rajesh Sharma today flagged off a massive awareness rally under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan (NMJKA) from the Block Development Office at Marheen-Hiranagar.

The rally witnessed enthusiastic participation from students, teachers, former PRI members, officers, health workers, volunteers, and local residents, who joined hands to spread awareness against substance abuse and promote a healthy, drug-free society.

Participants carried placards and raised slogans highlighting the harmful effects of drug addiction on individuals and society. They appealed to youth to stay away from narcotics and adopt healthy and positive lifestyles.

Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Commissioner emphasized the importance of community participation in making the anti-drug campaign successful. He stated that the district administration is committed to creating a drug-free society through sustained awareness programmes, counselling initiatives, and coordinated action involving all stakeholders.

He urged parents, teachers, and community leaders to remain vigilant and guide the younger generation towards constructive activities. He added that grassroots-level awareness and timely intervention are essential to curb the growing threat of narcotics and ensure a secure future for society.

Rajesh Sharma appreciated the active involvement of students and local residents and encouraged them to become ambassadors of the Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan in their respective communities.

The rally concluded with participants taking a pledge to actively contribute towards the vision of a drug-free Jammu and Kashmir.

Among others present on the occasion were ADC Vishavjeet Singh, SDM Phulail Singh, Tehsildar Lekh Raj, BDO Javed Iqbal, along with officers from civil administration, police, paramilitary forces, PRI members, and prominent citizens.
