Udhampur, May 08: Deputy Commissioner Udhampur Minga Sherpa today chaired a meeting with representatives of social organisations, civil society members, and religious heads to seek their active support for the successful implementation of the three-month-long Nasha Mukt Udhampur Abhiyan launched by the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir.
The meeting was attended by Senior Superintendent of Police Amrit Pal Singh, Additional Deputy Commissioner Prem Singh and other district officers.
During the interaction, the Deputy Commissioner briefed participants about the schedule of activities planned under the anti-drug campaign and emphasized the importance of engaging youth in constructive and positive initiatives to ensure effective grassroots implementation.
He informed that a series of awareness programmes, outreach campaigns, and public awareness camps would be organised across the district to educate people about the harmful effects of substance abuse and promote a healthy, drug-free society.
The DC appealed to all stakeholders to actively cooperate with the district administration and contribute valuable suggestions to make the campaign more impactful and result-oriented.
Highlighting the importance of collective responsibility, Minga Sherpa underscored the key role of social organisations, religious leaders, and respected citizens in spreading awareness and guiding youth away from drug addiction.
Civil society members and prominent citizens present at the meeting assured full cooperation and extended wholehearted support to the administration for making the Nasha Mukt Udhampur Abhiyan a success.
