SRINAGAR, APRIL 15: A delegation of the Kashmir Timber Association (KTA) called on Minister for Jal Shakti, Forest, Ecology, Environment and Tribal Affairs Javed Ahmad Rana to seek uniform enforcement of the E-Way Bill system for timber transit across Jammu and Kashmir.
The delegation submitted a memorandum highlighting that while the traditional docket system for timber transit has officially been replaced by the E-Way Bill as per prevailing rules, certain authorities continue to insist on docket-like documents during transit. They stated that this inconsistency has created confusion among traders and transporters, leading to delays and operational difficulties in the timber trade.
The delegation urged the Minister to issue clear directions to concerned authorities to ensure uniform acceptance of the E-Way Bill system across all transit checkpoints in the Union Territory.

Responding to the concerns, Javed Ahmad Rana assured prompt intervention and directed officials to ensure that the E-Way Bill is uniformly enforced without ambiguity at all checkpoints, so as to streamline timber transit operations.
During the meeting, other delegations also met the Minister and raised issues related to drinking water supply and local infrastructure development, particularly from Mendhar and adjoining areas, seeking early redressal of grievances.
The Minister heard all delegations and reiterated that the government is committed to public welfare and assured that all genuine issues will be taken up and addressed on priority basis.
