Kishtwar Police Register 5 NDPS Cases in Two Days; Two More Drug Peddlers Held with Heroin-like Substance

Continuing its intensified अभियान against drug trafficking under the ongoing #NashaMukthAbhiyaan, District Police Kishtwar has registered five cases under the NDPS Act in the last two days and arrested two more drug peddlers in separate operations.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kishtwar, Naresh Singh (JKPS), while sharing details, said that on April 23, 2026, a naka checking party deployed at Link Road Chowk Gurian intercepted an Eco vehicle bearing registration number JK17A-1218 during routine checking.

The naka team, led by SHO Police Station Kishtwar Inspector Firdous Ahmed and assisted by PSI Manubhav Verma, stopped the vehicle and questioned the driver. Upon suspicion, a personal search was conducted in accordance with legal provisions, leading to the recovery of 5.5 grams of heroin-like substance from his possession.

The accused was identified as Shakir Hussain, son of Ghulam Hussain, a resident of Pohie, Kishtwar. In this connection, FIR No. 91/2026 under Sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Kishtwar, and investigation is underway.

In another operation, a police team led by PSI Bhupinder Singh of Police Post Drabshalla apprehended one person during naka checking. The accused, identified as Arjun Kumar, son of Kewal Krishan, a resident of Sector-9 Sangrambhata, Kishtwar, was found in possession of 3.0 grams of heroin-like substance.

Accordingly, FIR No. 92/2026 under Sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act has been registered, and further investigation has been initiated.

All operations were conducted under the supervision of Additional SP Kishtwar, Pardeep Singh Goria (JKPS).

SSP Kishtwar reiterated that the district police is committed to its zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking and will continue its sustained crackdown under #NashaMukthAbhiyaan. He urged the public, particularly the youth, to stay away from drugs and appealed for cooperation in sharing information to help eradicate the menace from society.
