Jammu/Kishtwar, April 25, 2026:
A devastating fire broke out during the intervening night of April 24 in Appan village of Marwah area, causing extensive damage to residential properties and livestock.
According to official sources, the fire engulfed the double-storey residential house of Ab Rashid Parray S/o Late Ab Gani Parray, reducing it completely to ashes. The incident also resulted in the loss of around 15 cattle, 25 sheep, cash amounting to ₹70,000, and all important household documents.
Another resident, Mohd Amin S/o Abdul Samad, also suffered partial damage to one side of his residential house in the same incident.
Locals acted swiftly and, with coordinated efforts, managed to rescue all occupants safely, preventing any loss of human life.
Meanwhile, SHO Police Station Marwah, Lal Hussain, along with a team from the Special Operations Group (SOG), visited the spot to assess the extent of damage and monitor the situation.
The cause of the fire could not be immediately ascertained, and further assessment is underway.
