Jammu, April 22, 2026:
A grand and culturally vibrant literary function was organised on April 21 at the Jammu & Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages, Jammu, celebrating the richness and diversity of Dogri literature. The event brought together noted writers, poets, intellectuals, and literature enthusiasts from across the Union Territory.
Several Dogri language books were formally released on the occasion, showcasing the growing literary contributions aimed at preserving and promoting the region’s linguistic heritage. Among the key highlights of the event was the release of “Kesar Pushap Kahaniyan,” authored by Kewal Krishan Sharma, a retired Principal and President of Kishtwari Sahitya Kala Kendra, District Kishtwar.

What makes this achievement particularly noteworthy is that Shri Kewal Krishan Sharma, who hails from District Kishtwar and does not belong to a traditional Dogra background, has demonstrated exceptional dedication and passion for the Dogri language. His literary contribution marks a historic milestone, as he becomes one of the first individuals from Kishtwar district to author a book in Dogri, thereby joining the distinguished circle of Dogri writers.
“Kesar Pushap Kahaniyan” has been widely appreciated for its engaging storytelling, cultural depth, and its sincere reflection of societal themes. Speakers at the event commended the author’s commitment, stating that such efforts transcend regional and cultural boundaries and significantly contribute to the enrichment of Dogri literature.
The dignitaries present underscored the importance of inclusivity in language promotion and highlighted how contributions from diverse backgrounds strengthen the literary fabric of any language. They also encouraged the younger generation to take inspiration from such examples and actively participate in preserving their linguistic and cultural identity.
The event concluded with felicitation of the authors and a renewed resolve among the literary fraternity to continue working towards the promotion of Dogri language and literature.
Heartfelt congratulations were extended to Shri Kewal Krishan Sharma ji for this remarkable achievement, with best wishes for his continued contributions in promoting and enriching Dogri literature and culture.
