Over One Lakh Devotees Gather at Hazratbal Shrine for Congregational Prayers
Jumat-ul-Vida Observed with Religious Fervor Across Kashmir, Over One Lakh Devotees Gather at Hazratbal
Srinagar, March 29: Jumat-ul-Vida, the last Friday of the holy month of Ramadan, was observed with religious reverence and devotion across the Kashmir Valley. The largest congregational prayers were held at the historic Hazratbal Shrine, where over one lakh devotees gathered to offer prayers.
From the early hours of the morning, thousands of worshippers thronged mosques, shrines, and religious sites across the valley. The day was marked by recitation of the Holy Quran, special prayers, and sermons by Islamic scholars emphasizing the significance of Ramadan and the essence of Friday prayers.
To facilitate smooth conduct of prayers, the Jammu and Kashmir administration, along with the J&K Waqf Board and the traffic department, made special arrangements. Additional buses were deployed to transport devotees, and parking facilities were arranged near Hazratbal and other major shrines.
Despite these measures, many devotees raised concerns over inadequate transport services, especially after the prayers. “People are struggling to find transport from Hazratbal to the city center as there are no sufficient buses available,” some devotees expressed.
Apart from Hazratbal, Jumat-ul-Vida prayers were also held at prominent shrines, including Khanqah-e-Moula, Ziyarat Makhdoom Sahib, Dastgeer Sahib, Asar-e-Sharif Shehri Kalashpora, and various Imambargahs across the region. Clerics in their sermons highlighted the sanctity of the day and urged people to follow the teachings of Islam and Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
Jumat-ul-Vida marks an important spiritual occasion for Muslims, and in Kashmir, it remains a day of deep devotion and collective prayer, bringing together thousands in a display of faith and unity.
