SRINAGAR: The Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly on Tuesday withdrew three Bills proposing changes to the salaries and allowances of legislators, ministers and pensions of former members following objections raised by BJP MLAs.
The Bills, introduced during the ongoing Autumn Session, sought amendments to laws governing the salaries and allowances of ministers and Members of the J&K Legislature, as well as pensions of former legislators.
Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, while responding to the objections, said there had been no dissenting note in the House Committee that had recommended the proposed changes, according to reports.
The withdrawal came amid objections from BJP members in the House over the proposed enhancement. The development adds another point of contention to the ongoing Assembly session, which has witnessed heated exchanges between the treasury and opposition benches in recent days.
