Jammu, March 31:
The Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly is set for a packed legislative day on April 1, 2026 (Wednesday), with an extensive agenda including question hour, multiple calling attention motions, presentation of reports, and the introduction of a large number of Private Members’ Bills.
As per the official list of business issued by the Assembly Secretariat, the House will convene at 10:00 AM and begin proceedings with the Question Hour, where 33 starred questions will be taken up for oral answers, covering key sectors such as environment, tourism, infrastructure, education, power, and disaster management. 
Key Issues Through Calling Attention
Several pressing public issues are scheduled to be raised through calling attention motions, including:
• Threat of collapse of Brakpora Kanganhall-Chattergul Road in Anantnag
• Drinking water scarcity and polluted supply in Gurez areas
• Emerging water crisis in Kashmir Valley due to dry conditions

Report & House Committee Extension
The House will also witness the presentation of a report by the Committee on Subordinate Legislation for 2025–26. Additionally, a motion will be moved to extend the tenure of the House Committee on Jal Jeevan Mission by three months to complete its work.

The proposal is rooted in the argument that Kishtwar, being a major hub of hydropower generation contributing substantially to the national grid, deserves equitable benefits for its residents. The bill aims to establish a statutory mechanism to provide free power to local households as recognition of the district’s contribution and to address long-standing public demand for energy justice in the region.
