Four boys were rescued after they became stranded in the River Tawi following a sudden rise in the water level near Peer Kho Temple in Jammu on Saturday.
According to officials, the Police Control Room received information that the children, who had entered the river for bathing, were trapped after the water level rose unexpectedly.
Acting swiftly, a team from Police Station Pacca Danga, led by the SDPO City North, coordinated with the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) to launch a rescue operation. The teams reached the spot without delay and safely brought all four boys out of the river.
Officials said the prompt response by the police and SDRF personnel helped avert a major tragedy.
Following the incident, Jammu Police issued a public advisory urging people to stay away from the banks of the River Tawi during the monsoon season, warning that heavy rainfall in the upper catchment areas can cause sudden increases in the river’s water level.
Parents have also been advised to ensure that children do not venture near the river to avoid such incidents.
