New Delhi, September 30, 2026: INDIA bloc leaders met in New Delhi on Wednesday to discuss the ongoing row involving the Election Commission and the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee attended the meeting along with Congress leaders Mallikarjun Kharge, Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, as well as leaders from several opposition parties.
The meeting is focused on formulating a coordinated response to the Election Commission and planning joint political action over the SIR exercise. Opposition parties have also been demanding action against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
Mamata Banerjee had earlier called for opposition parties to come together on the issue and held discussions with Rahul Gandhi and CPI(M) general secretary M.A. Baby.
