Jammu Kishtwar, May 11; 2026: Intensifying its crackdown against narcotics under the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, Kishtwar Police carried out multiple actions across the district, including the destruction of illegal poppy cultivation, arrest of an accused person, and sealing of a medico shop for violating mandatory norms.
According to police, the drive is being conducted on the directions of SSP Kishtwar Naresh Singh (JKPS) as part of sustained efforts to eradicate the drug menace from society.
In one of the actions, Kishtwar Police, accompanied by the Magistrate and Drug Inspector, conducted surprise inspections of medical shops in the district. During the inspection, Akharya Medicos, License No. RLF20JK2026000432 issued on February 13, 2026, owned by Mubasher Ahmed Waza of Akhyarabad, Kishtwar, was allegedly found violating mandatory regulations. The shop was sealed on the spot.
In another significant operation, acting on specific information, Police Station Kishtwar registered FIR No. 106/2026 under Sections 8/18 of the NDPS Act. A police team led by SHO PS Kishtwar Insp. Firdous Ahmed, assisted by PSI Parshotam Singh, conducted a raid in the Sarthal area.
During investigation, police found that Badder Din, son of Ghulam Mohammad Bhatt and resident of Ladsa, Sarthal, had allegedly cultivated poppy illegally on his agricultural land. The accused was arrested on the spot, while the illegal cultivation was destroyed in accordance with law.
Reaffirming the district police’s commitment towards a drug-free society, SSP Naresh Singh said strict action will continue against all individuals involved in drug-related activities. He also appealed to the public to share information related to narcotics and assured complete confidentiality to informants.
