JAMMU, MAY 11: Additional District Magistrate Ansuya Jamwal on Monday chaired a meeting to review civic, security, and logistical arrangements for the smooth celebration of Eid ul Azha, tentatively scheduled for May 27 and 28 in Jammu district.
The meeting was attended by senior officers from various line departments along with representatives of religious organisations.
During the meeting, the ADM stressed that maintaining cleanliness across the city remains a priority and directed the Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) to ensure proper sanitation at Eidgahs, prayer grounds, and surrounding areas.
Strict directions were also issued regarding food safety, including proper display of rate lists, prevention of overpricing, and hygienic handling of food items. The Legal Metrology Department was asked to intensify market inspections ahead of the festival.
The Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CAPD) Department was directed to ensure adequate availability of essential commodities, while arrangements for deployment of water tankers near prayer sites and areas facing water shortages were also reviewed.
Regarding electricity supply, the ADM instructed authorities to minimise power cuts and strictly avoid unscheduled outages during the festival period. Repair of non-functional street lights was identified as an immediate priority for JMC.
Police deployment, traffic management, and security arrangements around Eidgahs and major prayer locations were also comprehensively reviewed during the meeting.
Representatives of religious bodies shared their feedback and demands, which were noted by the administration for necessary action.
Ansuya Jamwal also appealed to religious leaders to use the occasion for spreading awareness against drug abuse and to support the Nasha Mukti Bharat Abhiyan campaign.
The meeting was attended by the SP North, District Health Officer, Health Officer JMC, ACG, and senior officials from concerned departments.
