The famous Gulmarg Gondola in Gulmarg has officially reopened for tourists after remaining shut for nearly a month due to a technical snag.

According to officials, the cable car service has resumed operations after completing necessary repair work, maintenance checks, and multiple safety tests conducted over the past few days to ensure smooth functioning.

An official from the Cable Car Corporation confirmed that tourists can now once again book tickets through the official online portal. The reopening brings relief to visitors and local stakeholders dependent on tourism in the region.

The service was suspended on May 25 after a malfunction left over 300 tourists and local guides stranded mid-air, triggering a large-scale rescue operation involving the Army, Police, NDRF, and SDRF.

Following the incident, the Jammu and Kashmir government formed a five-member committee on June 10 to investigate the cause of the technical failure. The panel was directed to submit its report within 10 days.

The resumption is expected to restore tourist confidence in one of Kashmir’s most popular attractions.(AGENCIES)
