SRINAGAR, September 28: At least five people were killed and six others injured after a passenger vehicle skidded off the Teetwal–Simari road and plunged into a ditch in the Karnah area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Monday.
Following the tragic accident, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha expressed grief over the loss of lives and conveyed his condolences to the bereaved families. He also prayed for the speedy recovery of those injured.
Sinha said he had directed the district administration to ensure that the injured receive the best possible medical treatment.
The injured were initially shifted to Sub-District Hospital Tangdhar and were subsequently referred to Government Medical College (GMC) Handwara for further treatment, according to officials.
Rescue teams and local volunteers were involved in the rescue operation, while authorities were working to ascertain the circumstances that led to the accident.
