New Delhi, May 18 : A Delhi court on Monday granted interim bail to jailed Baramulla MP Engineer Rashid, allowing him to attend the last rites of his father, Haji Khazir Mohammad Sheikh, who passed away at AIIMS Delhi after a prolonged illness.
The deceased, aged 85, had been undergoing treatment at various hospitals in Srinagar before being shifted to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, for advanced medical care. He breathed his last at the hospital on Monday.
According to an Awami Ittehad Party (AIP) spokesperson, the court approved interim bail for the incarcerated MP soon after news of his father’s demise emerged, enabling him to participate in the funeral prayers and perform the last rites in accordance with religious customs.
Haji Khazir Mohammad Sheikh was widely respected for his contribution to education and community service and is survived by his family, including Engineer Rashid.
