Srinagar, Jan 17: A wet spell is likely to affect Jammu and Kashmir from January 23–24, bringing heavy rain and snowfall to several districts, including the Chenab Valley, Pir Panjal range, and South Kashmir.
According to the Meteorological Centre Srinagar, the region will witness partly cloudy to generally cloudy weather till January 21, with light snowfall at isolated higher reaches. The weather is expected to intensify from the evening of January 22, with light to moderate rain and snowfall at most places.
In view of the forecast, authorities have advised travellers to plan their journeys accordingly, while farmers have been urged to suspend farm operations during the period. There is also a possibility of gusty winds and landslides at vulnerable locations.
The weather is expected to remain cloudy till January 26, with light rain and snowfall at scattered places. (Agenceies)
