Thiruvananthapuram, June 19: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Thursday inspected the HDFC Bank locker of T. Veena, daughter of former Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, as part of its ongoing investigation into alleged financial transactions between Cochin Minerals and Rutile Limited (CMRL) and Exalogic Solutions.

The inspection was carried out at an HDFC Bank branch near the Government Ayurveda College in Thiruvananthapuram. Officials are also examining Veena’s bank accounts as part of the investigation.

The latest action comes a day after ED officials questioned T. Veena at the agency’s Kochi office regarding the alleged financial dealings under investigation.

Earlier this month, the Kerala High Court cleared the way for the ED to continue its probe by dismissing an appeal filed by CMRL against a single-judge order permitting the investigation. The Division Bench, comprising Justices A. Raja Vijayaraghavan and K.V. Jayakumar, upheld the earlier ruling.

According to the ED, the investigation is part of a wider probe into alleged money laundering, fund diversion, and irregular financial transactions involving CMRL, Exalogic Solutions, and other associated entities.

Investigators have alleged that Exalogic Solutions, owned by T. Veena, received ₹2.78 crore from CMRL for consultancy services. The agency is also examining transactions involving Empower India Capital Investment, which allegedly extended loans despite repayment defaults.

The ED is further investigating allegations of fictitious expenses, suspected diversion of funds through shell companies, and other financial irregularities linked to the ₹182-crore money laundering case. The investigation remains ongoing, and no conclusions have yet been reached regarding the allegations.
