Doda, May 21: Continuing its intensified drive against drug trafficking under the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan, Doda Police achieved another success after apprehending an alleged drug peddler and recovering approximately 90–100 grams of charas-like substance from his possession at Domail Thalella Morh in Thathri.
According to police, a DD entry No. 18 dated May 20, 2026, was received at Police Station Thathri from Police Post Karara regarding naka checking being conducted by a police team headed by HC Shah Din along with other officials. The naka was laid at Domail Thalella Morh vide DDR No. 17 dated May 20.
During the checking operation, the police team intercepted a scooty bearing registration number JK06C-2204, which was travelling from the Cheralla side towards Thalella. During search of the rider, police recovered approximately 90–100 grams of charas-like substance from his possession.
The accused was identified as Binu Kumar, son of Om Raj, resident of Sharni, Tehsil Chiralla.
Preliminary investigation suggests that the accused was allegedly carrying the contraband substance for the purpose of sale, police said.
Following the recovery, a case FIR No. 47/2026 under Sections 8/20/25 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Thathri, and further investigation is underway.
The operation was conducted under the supervision and leadership of the SHO Thathri as part of Doda Police’s ongoing anti-narcotics campaign.
Doda Police reiterated its commitment to combating the menace of drugs and appealed to the public to cooperate by sharing information regarding drug trafficking and substance abuse in their areas.
