Kishtwar/Doda June 12, 2026: Doda Police has dealt a major blow to the growing menace of online drug trafficking by busting an alleged pharmaceutical drug supply network and seizing 2,000 Pregabalin capsules reportedly meant for illegal distribution in the district.
Acting on specific intelligence, a joint team of DSB Thathri and Police Station Thathri intercepted a suspect immediately after he collected a parcel from a courier centre. The accused, identified as Sarmad Ali Khan of Khanpura Phagsoo, presently residing at Nai Basti Thathri, was found in possession of 200 strips containing 2,000 Pregabalin-IP 300 mg capsules, a prescription medicine frequently misused as an intoxicant.
The operation has brought to light the alarming use of online platforms and courier services for the procurement and distribution of intoxicating substances. Police have launched an extensive investigation to trace the source of the consignment, financial transactions involved, and the wider network operating behind the illegal trade.
The accused has been remanded to six days judicial custody by the Hon’ble EMIC Thathri, while efforts are underway to apprehend other persons linked to the racket and expose its backward and forward linkages.
Doda Police described the operation as part of its uncompromising “Zero Tolerance Against Drugs” policy under the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan and Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, reiterating that those attempting to poison society, particularly the youth, will face strict legal consequences.
The latest seizure once again highlights the evolving tactics of drug traffickers and the growing challenge posed by online narcotics networks. Police have appealed to the public to remain vigilant and share information about drug-related activities to help make Doda a drug-free district.
