Doda, January 31, 2026: In a swift and effective operation, District Police Doda successfully solved a theft case by arresting the accused and recovering stolen gold ornaments and other household items worth lakhs of rupees.
On 08.01.2026, a lady namely Yasmeena Begum, W/o Lt. Ibrahim Shan, R/o Goila Kahara, District Doda, appeared at Police Post Kahara and lodged a written complaint. The complainant stated that she had gone to her relatives’ house on 06.01.2026 and upon returning home on 07.01.2026, she found that gold ornaments including a gold pendant, earrings, a silver necklace, silver earrings—worth several lakhs of rupees—along with four blankets, one stabilizer, and two large spoons were missing.
It was suspected that unknown person(s) had entered her house during her absence and committed theft. Acting promptly on the complaint, FIR No. 04/26 U/S 331(4)/305 BNS was registered at Police Station Gandoh, and investigation was taken up.
On the directions of SSP Doda, Shri Sandeep Mehta, JKPS, a special police team was constituted, led by ICPP Kahara PSI Sunil Kumar and SHO PS Gandoh Insp. Farooq Katoch, under the supervision of SDPO Gandoh, DySP Lov Karan.
Through sustained efforts, technical assistance, and meticulous investigation, the police team successfully solved the case by arresting the accused Irshad Ahmed, S/o Mohd Hayat Malik, R/o Nan Chabba, Tehsil Kahara. During sustained questioning, the accused confessed to his involvement in the crime. On his disclosure, stolen gold ornaments worth lakhs of rupees were recovered. Additionally, four blankets, one electronic stabilizer, and two large spoons were recovered from his house at Nan Chabba. The swift and professional action by Doda Police leading to the arrest of the accused and recovery of stolen property has been widely appreciated by the general public.
