Doda police bust illegal poppy cultivation in Bhaderwah; accused arrested

Jammu/Doda, April 21, 2026:

Continuing its sustained crackdown against narcotics and illegal cultivation, Doda Police achieved a major success by busting an illicit poppy cultivation case in the Bhaderwah area and arresting one accused.

Acting on specific and reliable information, police learnt that an individual, identified as Sher Din, son of Taj Din and a resident of Village Jamo Shiva, was allegedly involved in the illegal cultivation of poppy plants on his agricultural land. Acting swiftly, Police Station Bhaderwah registered FIR No. 56/2026 under relevant sections of the NDPS Act and initiated investigation.

Subsequently, a police team led by the In-Charge Police Post Bhalla, under the jurisdiction of PS Bhaderwah, along with the Executive Magistrate 1st Class Doda and the concerned Patwari, conducted a raid at the site. During inspection, illegal poppy cultivation was detected on the land.

The entire illicit crop was uprooted and destroyed on the spot in accordance with legal procedures. The accused was apprehended and formally arrested after completion of all codal formalities.

Further investigation into the case is underway.
