Jammu/Doda, April 06, 2026:
In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, Doda Police apprehended two drug peddlers in separate operations, recovering heroin-like substance and a large quantity of banned pharmaceutical drugs.
In the first incident, a police team from Police Station Doda, during routine checking at Ganpat Chowk, intercepted and apprehended an individual identified as Muzzamil Ahmed, son of Nazir Ahmed, a resident of Udhyanpur, Doda. Upon search, approximately 5.23 grams of heroin-like substance was recovered from his possession. Accordingly, FIR No. 76/2026 under relevant sections (8/21/22) of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Doda, and further investigation is underway.
In another operation, a police party conducting naka checking near a petrol pump apprehended one Nitan Kumar, son of Sat Paul, a resident of Kandoth, Tehsil Thathri, District Doda. During checking, police recovered 60 boxes of banned Buprenorphine & Naloxone tablets (VERNOR-N) from his possession. Each box contained 100 tablets, taking the total to 6,000 tablets. In this regard, FIR No. 77/2026 under relevant sections (8/21/22) of the NDPS Act has been registered, and investigation has been initiated.
Both accused have been taken into custody.
The operations were carried out under the directions of SSP Doda, with close supervision of DySP Headquarters Doda and SHO Police Station Doda.
Doda Police reiterated its commitment to eradicating the drug menace and urged the public to cooperate by sharing any information related to drug trafficking with the nearest police unit.
