Jammu/Kishtwar, May 10, 2026:
DIG Doda–Kishtwar–Ramban Range, Ms. Sargun Shukla (IPS), accompanied by SSP Kishtwar Shri Naresh Singh (JKPS), on Saturday reviewed the security scenario in the Padder and Chatroo areas and conducted an on-ground assessment of security arrangements along the strategic Sinthan Pass axis.
During the visit, SSP Kishtwar Naresh Singh briefed the DIG about the prevailing security grid, anti-terror preparedness, and ongoing policing measures in the district. He also apprised her of the challenges posed by difficult mountainous terrain, nomadic movement through higher reaches, and the strategic routes connecting Kishtwar with Doda and Anantnag districts.
The SSP further highlighted the sensitivity of areas sharing boundaries with Himachal Pradesh and informed the DIG about the operational preparedness and security mechanisms in place in far-flung regions.
Interacting with officers and security personnel deployed in the area, DIG Sargun Shukla reviewed deployment patterns, surveillance measures, and overall operational readiness. She stressed the need for heightened alertness, close inter-agency coordination, and sustained vigil in sensitive areas to ensure peace and security.
Later, the DIG inspected Police Station Chatroo and Police Station Atholi, where she reviewed crime records, investigation work, Malkhana management, CCTNS functioning, official documentation, and administrative preparedness.
The visit concluded with the DIG appreciating the efforts of District Police Kishtwar and directing officers and officials to continue working with dedication and coordination for maintaining peace and security across the district.
