Kishtwar, May 08, 2026:
DIG Doda-Kishtwar-Ramban Range Ms. Sargun Shukla (IPS) today visited Kishtwar and chaired a joint Crime-cum-Security Review Meeting at District Police Headquarters Kishtwar to review overall security scenario, law and order situation, crime control measures and preparedness of police in the district.
During the meeting, SSP Kishtwar Shri Naresh Singh (JKPS) gave a detailed presentation regarding demographic profile and geographical sensitivity of the district besides briefing about prevailing security scenario, crime trends, anti-militancy measures and operational preparedness of District Police Kishtwar.
The SSP also briefed the chair regarding ongoing anti-drug drives and actions taken under Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan in the district. Addl. SP Kishtwar, SDPOs and other officers also presented details regarding law and order situation and security arrangements in their respective areas.
While reviewing the functioning of police units, DIG DKR Range directed officers to ensure timely disposal of cases especially NDPS related cases through effective investigation and proper prosecution. She stressed upon taking strict action against drug peddlers, bovine smugglers, habitual offenders and criminals involved in theft, property related crimes and crimes against women and girl childs.
The DIG further directed the officers to intensified anti-drug operations, night patrolling and area domination exercises in order to strengthen overall security grid and maintain peace in the district. She also asked officers to remain alert and work with better coordination to achieve security targets for the year 2026.
The meeting was attended by Addl. SP Kishtwar, SDPOs, Sr. Prosecuting Officer, SHOs, IC PPS, Branch Heads of DPO Kishtwar and other officers of District Police Kishtwar.
DIG DKR Range appreciated the efforts of District Police Kishtwar in maintaining peace and public order besides taking continuous action against drug menace in the district. She urged the officers to continue working with dedication and commitment for ensuring peaceful and secure atmosphere for the people.
