DC Srinagar conducts Block Diwas cum grievance redressal camp at Panzinara

DC Srinagar holds Block Diwas at Panzinara, assures redressal of grievances; leads registration drive under Vay Vandana Scheme for senior citizens.

Akshay Labroo on Wednesday conducted an extensive visit to Panzinara area on the outskirts of Srinagar and chaired a Mega Public Grievance Redressal Camp under the Block Diwas programme, aimed at taking administration closer to the people and addressing their developmental concerns.

The Deputy Commissioner also presided over an Awareness-cum-Registration Camp under the Ayushman Vay Vandana Scheme to ensure maximum enrolment of eligible senior citizens aged 70 years and above under the health coverage initiative providing an additional Rs 5 lakh support.

The camp witnessed participation from Additional Deputy Commissioner Mir Imtiyaz Ul Aziz, IAS Probationer Alfred Thomas, Chief Planning Officer Fayaz Ahmad Dar, SDM West Irfan Bahadur, Assistant Commissioner Development Tariq Ahmad Reshi, BDO Qamarwari Saima Ahad, Deputy CEO Anjum Raja, and other district officers.

A large number of residents from Panzinara-A, Panzinara-B, Mujgund and adjoining areas of Shalteng tehsil participated in the grievance redressal camp and projected several issues before the administration.

The public raised concerns including jurisdictional disputes with Baramulla and Bandipora districts, updation of settlement records, development of playgrounds, strengthening of irrigation canals, macadamization of inner link roads, repair of Jhelum embankments, augmentation of drinking water supply and provision of ATM facilities.

After hearing the grievances, the Deputy Commissioner assured the public that all genuine demands would be taken up with the concerned departments on priority, especially issues related to jurisdictional clarity.

He also issued on-the-spot directions to officers for time-bound resolution of public issues.

Later, the Deputy Commissioner led the registration-cum-awareness camp at Panzinara-B, organised by the Chief Medical Officer Srinagar, where elderly citizens were briefed about the benefits of the Vay Vandana scheme.

Addressing the gathering, Akshay Labroo highlighted the importance of the scheme in providing comprehensive health coverage and financial protection to senior citizens, ensuring dignity and security in their later years.

He urged all eligible citizens to enroll under the scheme so that no deserving beneficiary is left out of its benefits.

During the programme, the Deputy Commissioner also distributed Vay Vandana cards among eligible beneficiaries of Qamarwari block.
