DC Shopian Reviews Arrangements for Mega Padyatra Scheduled on May 23

Shishir Gupta directs departments to ensure security, medical, transport and civic facilities for smooth conduct of event

SHOPIAN, MAY 15: Deputy Commissioner Shopian Shishir Gupta today chaired a meeting at Mini Secretariat Shopian to review and finalize arrangements for the forthcoming Mega Padyatra scheduled to be held in the district on May 23, 2026.

During the meeting, detailed discussions were held regarding security arrangements, traffic regulation, sanitation, medical facilities, drinking water, electricity supply, deployment of magistrates, seating arrangements, refreshment facilities, parking management and other essential arrangements required for the smooth conduct of the event.

The Deputy Commissioner directed all concerned departments to work in close coordination and ensure timely completion of assigned responsibilities. He stressed the importance of providing adequate facilities for the convenience and safety of participants.

He further emphasized that sufficient medical teams, ambulances and emergency response systems must remain available throughout the event. He also instructed concerned agencies to ensure uninterrupted power and water supply at designated locations.

All arrangements were finalized during the meeting and responsibilities were clearly assigned to respective departments for execution.

Officers from various departments apprised the chair regarding preparedness and measures being taken to ensure successful conduct of the Padyatra.

The meeting was attended by Senior Superintendent of Police Shopian Mushtaq Ahmed Choudhary, Additional District Development Commissioner Dr. Nasir Ahmed Lone, Additional Deputy Commissioner Dr. Zakir Hussain Faaz, Principal Government Degree College Shopian Prof. Tariq Ahmad, Additional Commissioner Revenue Shakoor Ahmed Dar, Sub Divisional Magistrate Zainapora Bilal Ahmed, along with district and sectoral officers, tehsildars, BDOs and other concerned officials.
