Kathua, May 5: Deputy Commissioner Kathua, Rajesh Sharma, on Monday chaired a meeting to review the functioning of Kisan Khidmat Ghars (KKGs) and their role in delivering farmer-centric services across the district.
The Deputy Commissioner conducted a comprehensive review of the services being provided through KKGs and emphasized the need to expand their outreach, particularly in remote and peripheral areas, to ensure maximum benefit to farmers.
He directed concerned officers and KKG representatives to actively spread awareness about various government welfare schemes and agricultural support services, including crop advisory, soil testing, availability of seeds and fertilizers, crop insurance, PM-KISAN benefits, and other farmer welfare programmes.
Rajesh Sharma stressed that KKGs must function as accessible and reliable support centres for farmers, ensuring timely grievance redressal and guidance on modern agricultural practices aimed at improving productivity and income.
He further instructed KKG operators to maintain close coordination with the Agriculture, Horticulture, and allied departments to ensure seamless service delivery and effective implementation of ongoing agricultural development initiatives in the district.
The meeting was attended by Chief Planning Officer Ranjeet Thakur, Chief Agriculture Officer Jatinder Khajuria, Sub-Divisional Agriculture Officers, representatives of Kisan Khidmat Ghars, and officials from allied departments.
