DC Ganderbal Reviews Preparations for Mega Padayatra under Nasha Mukt Abhiyan, Calls for Coordinated Efforts and Seamless Arrangements

Ganderbal, May 5: Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal Jatin Kishore on Monday chaired a meeting to review preparations for the upcoming Padayatra under the Nasha Mukt Abhiyan in the district.

At the outset, the DC took a detailed review of the arrangements being put in place for the event, which is expected to witness large public participation from across the district. He stressed the need for coordinated efforts among all departments to ensure smooth and successful conduct of the programme.

The meeting held detailed discussions on logistical and infrastructural arrangements at Qamaria Stadium, which will serve as the main venue, as well as at the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, where the culminating event is scheduled. The DC directed officials to ensure proper stage setup, seating arrangements, and designated areas for orderly participation, emphasizing discipline, safety, and comfort for attendees.

On sanitation and hygiene, the Municipal Council Ganderbal was directed to ensure adequate temporary facilities and maintain cleanliness throughout the venue. The Jal Shakti Department was tasked with ensuring uninterrupted drinking water supply through RO systems and tankers.

The DC also reviewed transportation and traffic management arrangements, directing the ARTO to ensure smooth movement of participants and prevent congestion during the event.

The Information Department was asked to prepare awareness materials and campaign displays to enhance visibility of the Nasha Mukt Abhiyan. The DC further stressed active participation of educational institutions, civil society groups, youth organizations, and other stakeholders.

Special emphasis was laid on involving students and youth meaningfully in the programme to strengthen awareness against drug abuse and promote a drug-free society.

Arrangements for refreshments, healthcare facilities, power backup, and other essential services were also reviewed. Departments were directed to ensure all preparations are completed well in advance.

The DC reiterated that the Padayatra will serve as a major platform to mobilize public support for a drug-free society and called upon all departments to perform their responsibilities with dedication.

The meeting was attended by Senior Superintendent of Police Sudhanshu Dhama, Additional District Development Commissioner Manzoor Ahmad, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Chief Executive Officer SDA, Chief Executive Officer WMDA, Additional SP, ACR, CPO, SDM Kangan, ACP, and other senior officers
