GANDERBAL, MAY 15: Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal Jatin Kishore today visited Baltal Base Camp to review preparations and arrangements being put in place for the smooth conduct of Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra (SANJY)-2026.
During the visit, the DC took a detailed assessment of the site plan from Y-Junction to Domail access gate and reviewed ongoing developmental works and facilities being established for pilgrims.
He inspected key arrangements including parking areas, improvement of pony tracks at Baltal and Domail, and barricading work for smooth movement of ponies and devotees. The DC also reviewed allied facilities being developed at the Baltal Base Camp.
The Deputy Commissioner directed Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL) to ensure adequate lighting arrangements at key locations, especially at the heavily frequented pony stand.
He instructed the Irrigation and Flood Control Department to expedite drainage and crate protection works, while telecom agencies were asked to ensure uninterrupted mobile network connectivity across the yatra route and base camp areas.
The Labour Department was directed to organize registration camps at locations including Sonamarg for workers and service providers associated with the yatra. The Traffic Department was asked to prepare an efficient traffic management plan, and State Road Transport Corporation J&K (SRTC) was instructed to ensure adequate transport facilities and ticket booking counters for pilgrims.
The Border Roads Organisation was directed to ensure timely snow clearance and maintenance of the yatra track while maintaining coordination with other departments for smooth execution of works.
The DC issued on-the-spot directions to concerned departments to accelerate ongoing works and ensure timely completion within stipulated deadlines.
Later, he also visited the Pony Stand and directed officers to ensure adequate amenities and proper facilities for smooth pilgrim management.
During the visit, he was accompanied by Senior Superintendent of Police Sudhanshu Dhama, Additional Deputy Commissioner, CEO Sonamarg Development Authority, Sub Divisional Magistrate and officers from various departments including BRO, SASB and telecom agencies
