Jatin Kishore on Tuesday conducted a public outreach programme-cum-grievance redressal camp at Dab Panchayat in Block Wakura under the weekly Block Diwas initiative aimed at strengthening grassroots engagement and responsive governance.
The programme was attended by Additional District Development Commissioner Manzoor Ahmad, Assistant Commissioner Revenue, Assistant Commissioner Development, district and sectoral officers, besides a large number of local residents, students and civil society members.
During the outreach camp, residents from Narain Bagh, Batpora, Shalahar, Dab, Batwina, Waskura and adjoining areas raised several developmental and civic issues including augmentation of drinking water supply, macadamization of roads and interior links, smart bus services, desilting of canals and strengthening of PHC Wakura to Community Health Centre level.
The public also demanded upgradation of a High School to Girls Higher Secondary School, fencing of Karewa and construction of a community hall in the area.
Officials from various departments responded to several grievances on the spot and informed the public about ongoing and proposed developmental measures.
The programme also featured anti-drug awareness activities under the Nasha Mukti Abhiyan, where students presented an awareness skit highlighting the harmful effects of substance abuse and promoting the message of a drug-free society.
Addressing the gathering, the Deputy Commissioner emphasized the need for collective efforts to combat the growing menace of drug abuse, especially among youth.
He urged the participants to become ambassadors of change and spread awareness about the dangers of substance abuse within their communities and families.
On the developmental front, Jatin Kishore assured the public that all genuine issues would be addressed in a phased and systematic manner.
He informed that several developmental works, including road macadamization projects, have been planned for the current year with emphasis on timely execution and completion.
The Deputy Commissioner also assured that all possible efforts would be made to resolve key public issues, particularly ahead of the upcoming Muharram festival.
