J&K Budget Session Concludes; House Adjourned Sine Die

Jammu, April 9: The Speaker of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Abdul Rahim Rather, on Tuesday adjourned the House sine die, marking the conclusion of the 21-day Budget Session that began on March 3 with the Lieutenant Governor’s address.

Delivering a summary of the session, the Speaker informed the House that a total of 1,355 questions were received during the session, of which 154 starred questions were taken up and 353 supplementary questions were addressed.

In terms of legislative business, the Speaker said three Government Bills were introduced and passed by the House. Additionally, 33 Private Members’ Bills were received and scheduled for discussion. The Assembly Secretariat also received 1,738 Cut Motions, of which 1,731 were taken up for deliberation.

The Speaker further revealed that the Secretariat received 78 Calling Attention Motions, out of which 23 were listed for business and 34 were disallowed.

Highlighting the importance of the session, the Speaker noted that this 21-day sitting was the second longest Budget Session in the country in 2025. He added that 109 resolutions were received, with 85 admitted and 14 listed for business.

In total, the Assembly devoted over 39 hours to legislative discussions and debates during the session.

Speaker Rather expressed his gratitude to all Members of the Assembly for their cooperation, which ensured the smooth conduct of proceedings. He also extended thanks to the Information Department, Assembly Secretariat, Health Department, Radio Kashmir, Doordarshan, J&K Police, media, and all other stakeholders for their support throughout the session.
