Kishtwar, July 14: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) District President Kishtwar, Sumit Kumar, on Tuesday alleged that the people of Jammu and Kashmir have suffered due to years of political failures, accusing both the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the National Conference (NC) of failing to address the everyday concerns of the common people.

In a press statement, Sumit Kumar said that unemployment, rising inflation, poor road connectivity, inadequate healthcare facilities, irregular power supply, and the lack of development in remote areas continue to affect the lives of the people across the Union Territory.

He said that despite repeated promises made by successive governments, a large number of educated youth remain unemployed while basic infrastructure and essential public services require urgent improvement. He asserted that the people deserve accountable governance that prioritizes development and public welfare over political confrontation.

Referring to the constitutional status of Jammu and Kashmir, the BSP leader said the region continues to function as a Union Territory and that the restoration of full statehood remains an important issue of public and political concern.

“The interests of the people should come before political rivalry,” he said, adding that the BSP would continue to raise the issues of farmers, labourers, youth, government employees, women, and marginalized sections of society.

He further said the party is committed to ensuring transparent governance, equal opportunities, and inclusive development across Jammu and Kashmir.

Sumit Kumar also reiterated the BSP’s demand for the early restoration of full statehood to Jammu and Kashmir. He alleged that there should be no “political drama or fixed match” between the BJP and the National Conference on the issue and called for sincere efforts to restore democratic rights and strengthen public confidence in governance.
