A Border Security Force (BSF) constable deployed in Srinagar has gone missing, triggering an extensive search operation by security forces in the area.
According to sources, Constable (General Duty) Sugam Choudhary, 24, attached to ‘C’ Company of the 60th Battalion BSF, was found absent without leave from the battalion headquarters at Panthachowk around 5:00 PM on July 31, 2025.
Despite intensive search efforts by specially designated BSF teams in and around Panthachowk—including the bus stand, taxi stand, and Srinagar Railway Station—no trace of the missing trooper has been found so far. A missing report has been filed at Police Station Panthachowk as part of the formal procedure, according to news agency KDC.
Choudhary hails from Sikhera village in Kotwali Dehat, Bulandshahar district of Uttar Pradesh, and is the son of the late Devendra Kumar. Described as fair-complexioned with black hair and a height of 174.5 cm, Choudhary reportedly did not exhibit any signs of distress or unusual behavior prior to his disappearance, according to initial internal assessments.
Officials confirmed that all standard protocols are being followed and that his family has been informed of the situation.
Authorities have not ruled out any possibilities, and both an internal inquiry and a police investigation are currently underway to trace the missing personnel. (Agencies)
