PULWAMA, MAY 11: As part of the ongoing 100-day campaign under the Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan, awareness and outreach activities continued across district Pulwama on Monday with active participation from various departments, institutions, and local stakeholders.
An awareness camp was organised at Panchayat Gadpora in Block Aripal, where participants were sensitised about the harmful effects of substance abuse and the importance of collective community action. A padyatra was also held on the occasion, along with a pledge ceremony under the Nasha Mukt Abhiyaan to strengthen the anti-drug message at the grassroots level.
Similar awareness programmes were conducted at Namblabal Pampore and Ashmander Pampore, where participants were briefed about the objectives of the campaign and encouraged to actively support efforts aimed at building a drug-free society.
The Social Welfare Department organised a series of outreach activities across various locations and educational institutions, including awareness rallies, pledge drives, signature campaigns, pamphlet distribution, poster exhibitions, debates, and discussions focused on prevention of drug abuse and promotion of healthy lifestyles.
Short films and video screenings highlighting the ill effects of drug addiction were also shown to students and youth during the programmes.
The Education Department conducted interactive sessions in schools on the theme “Myths vs Facts regarding Drug Menace” to create awareness among students and promote informed decision-making.
Meanwhile, the Department of Youth Services and Sports (YSS) Pulwama organised multiple sports activities across different zones, including football, badminton, basketball, table tennis, tug of war, chess, and cricket competitions, along with seminars and exhibitions aimed at encouraging youth towards a healthy and drug-free lifestyle.
Officials said the coordinated efforts aim to strengthen community participation and build a sustained movement against drug abuse in the district.
