ARTO Kishtwar Issues Notices to 49 Vehicles for Permit Suspension; DL Skill Test Postponed

Jammu/Kishtwar, April 28, 2026:
In a major enforcement drive against traffic violations, the office of the Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO) Kishtwar has issued show cause notices for the suspension/cancellation of route permits of 48 buses and mini-buses operating in the district.

According to the official notice, the action has been initiated against vehicles repeatedly found involved in overloading and other violations, posing serious risks to passenger safety. Data accessed through the Vahan portal indicates that these vehicles were booked multiple times under the Motor Vehicles Act.

Authorities stated that as per GSR 48(E) dated January 20, 2017, any vehicle involved in five or more violations within a year is treated as a habitual offender, making it liable for suspension or cancellation of permit.

The vehicles against which action has been initiated include:
JK17-3001, JK17-3002, JK17-3003, JK17-3004, JK17-3005, JK17-3006, JK17-3007, JK17-3008, JK17-3009, JK17-3010, JK17-3011, JK17-3012, JK17-3013, JK17-3014, JK17-3015, JK17-3016, JK17-3017, JK17-3018, JK17-3019, JK17-3020, JK17-3021, JK17-3022, JK17-3023, JK17-3024, JK17-3025, JK17-3026, JK17-3027, JK17-3028, JK17-3029, JK17-3030, JK17-3031, JK17-3032, JK17-3033, JK17-3034, JK17-3035, JK17-3036, JK17-3037, JK17-3038, JK17-3039, JK17-3040, JK17-3041, JK17-3042, JK17-3043, JK17-3044, JK17-3045, JK17-3046, JK17-3047, JK17-3048.

The ARTO office has directed all concerned vehicle owners/operators to submit their replies within the stipulated time, failing which strict action, including suspension or cancellation of permits, will be taken.

Officials reiterated that the drive is aimed at ensuring strict compliance with transport laws, curbing overloading, and safeguarding passengers across Kishtwar district.

Meanwhile, the ARTO Kishtwar has also informed through a public notice that the Driving License Skill Test scheduled on April 29, 2026 has been postponed due to unavoidable circumstances. The test will now be conducted on May 6, 2026, while the time and venue shall remain unchanged. Authorities have expressed regret over the inconvenience caused to applicants.
