Jammu/Shopian, April 28, 2026: A massive rescue operation is underway in the Dubjan area of Shopian district after a 3-year-old girl was reportedly swept away by flowing water on Tuesday.
According to initial reports, the minor accidentally fell into a stream and was carried away by the strong current, triggering panic among locals. Soon after the incident, teams from the local administration, police, and volunteers launched a search operation to trace the missing child.
Leaders from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), including Waheed Para, MLA from Pulwama, and Aijaz Mir, former MLA, along with Raja Waheed and Majid Khan, reached the spot to assess the situation and express solidarity with the family. They urged the administration to intensify rescue efforts and ensure that all available resources are pressed into service.
Waheed Para has appealed to the Lieutenant Governor for immediate intervention, seeking urgent measures to locate the missing girl at the earliest.
Meanwhile, locals have also joined the rescue efforts, combing nearby areas in a desperate attempt to find the child. The operation was continuing till the last reports came in.
