Doda/Kishtwar: The investigation into the recent violence at Lovely Professional University (LPU) in Phagwara has now extended to Jammu and Kashmir, with police identifying several students from the region in connection with the case.

According to reports, one youth from Doda has been arrested, while police teams are searching for another student from Kishtwar who has been named in the investigation. Punjab Police are examining CCTV footage, mobile-location data and other digital evidence to establish the individual roles of those identified.

Reports have said that a Kishtwar-origin student, Mohammad Farhat, has been named in an FIR related to the LPU violence. Police have reportedly been conducting raids to locate him. Farhat has previously denied responsibility for the violence while acknowledging that he was present at the campus during the unrest.

The LPU campus witnessed violence, vandalism and alleged looting following the circulation of unverified claims about an alleged sexual assault involving a student. Punjab Police have registered multiple FIRs and constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the incidents.

The investigation remains underway, and the exact role of each person named in the case is yet to be established by police.
