Jammu, March 30;2026: The Jal Shakti Department, Hydraulic Division Kishtwar, has launched a major disconnection drive against water tax defaulters and illegal water connections across Kishtwar town and its adjoining areas, following mounting unpaid dues of nearly ₹5 crore.

According to an official order issued by the Assistant Executive Engineer, a large number of consumers in Kishtwar town have either availed illegal/unauthorized water connections or defaulted on payment of water taxes despite repeated notices. To address this, ward-wise teams have been constituted to carry out a special disconnection drive against defaulters.
