Jammu Police Arrest Drug Peddler with 150 Grams of Heroin-Like Narcotics Worth ₹55 Lakhs

Jammu, February 19, 2026: Continuing its sustained crackdown against the drug menace, Jammu Police (South Zone) arrested one alleged drug peddler and recovered approximately 150 grams of heroin-like narcotics valued at around ₹55 lakhs in the illegal market.

On February 16, 2026, a police team from Police Post Sainik Colony, acting under the supervision of senior officers including SSP Jammu, SP City South and SDPO City East, laid a naka on the National Highway near Jodhamal School for routine vehicle checking. The operation was led by Incharge PP Sainik Colony PSI Maan Singh with the support of SHO Police Station Channi Himmat Inspector Mustaj Choudhary.

During checking, the police team intercepted a suspect who disclosed his identity as Har Dayal Singh, son of Sahib Singh, resident of Raipur Kalan, Amritsar, Punjab. Upon his personal search, police recovered approximately 150 grams of a heroin-like substance, commonly known as “chitta,” from his possession. The contraband was seized on the spot following due legal procedures and the accused was taken into custody.

In this connection, FIR No. 51/2026 under Sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Channi Himmat. Further investigation is underway to ascertain the backward and forward linkages of the accused. Police are also conducting a financial investigation to trace the larger narco-smuggling network and identify other persons involved in the illegal trade.

Jammu Police reiterated its commitment to continue its hard-hitting approach against drug trafficking and appealed to the public to cooperate by sharing any information related to narcotics activities.
