Jammu, Feb 18: MLA Tanvir Sadiq on Wednesday accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of sidelining the interests of Jammu and demanded a probe into the utilisation of funds by a Member of Parliament representing the region.
Speaking to reporters outside the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Sadiq alleged that the BJP had not acted in the best interests of the people of Jammu. He claimed that while the party argued that adequate representation was provided to Poonch and Rajouri by nominating a tribal MP, funds meant for these areas were instead spent in Uttar Pradesh.
Sadiq pointed out that Uttar Pradesh already has 80 MPs and questioned the logic behind diverting funds outside Jammu and Kashmir. He described the move as an injustice to the people of Poonch and Rajouri, stressing that development allocations should directly benefit the constituencies of the elected representative.
The MLA further alleged that the funds were channelled through a few selected companies and called for a thorough investigation to ensure transparency and accountability. (Agency)
