Jammu April 19, 2026: PDP MLA Wahid Para has urged the government and judiciary to consider the bail application of MP Engineer Rashid on humanitarian grounds, as his father remains critically ill and on ventilator support.
In a post on X, Para highlighted the emotional and human dimension of the case, stating that no father should have to face his final moments while witnessing his child suffer due to political circumstances. He pointed out that despite being an elected representative, Rashid continues to remain in custody in Tihar Jail.
“Compassion must be at the core of justice,” Para said, adding that denying a son the opportunity to be with his ailing father during his last moments is deeply painful and inhumane.
He further stressed that political or ideological differences should not result in families being separated during times of grief. Referring to the situation in Kashmir, Para noted that such personal suffering often transforms into collective resentment, urging authorities to act with “reham” (mercy).
The PDP leader appealed for Rashid’s temporary release, emphasizing that justice must reflect humanity, especially in moments of personal tragedy.
