Divisional Commissioner Kashmir takes stock of Eid-ul-Adha arrangements across Valley

Div Com Kashmir directs uninterrupted services, strict market monitoring and security for Eid-ul-Adha

SRINAGAR, MAY 07: In preparation for the forthcoming Eid-ul-Adha celebrations, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Anshul Garg, on Thursday convened a high-level meeting to review and finalize arrangements for the smooth and peaceful observance of the festival across the Kashmir Division.

During the meeting, the Divisional Commissioner directed KPDCL officers to ensure uninterrupted power supply at prominent religious shrines including Hazratbal Shrine, Kalashpora, Jenab Sahab Soura, Ziyarat Sharief Kabamarg and Khiram in Anantnag, Ziyarat Sharief Makhama, and Aham-i-Sharief in Bandipora.

He further instructed the concerned departments to maintain adequate and uninterrupted supply of potable drinking water and to promptly address any water-related issues.

Emphasizing the importance of ensuring availability of essential commodities during the festive days, he directed authorities to maintain sufficient stocks of rice, atta, sugar, and other daily essentials across the Valley.

To meet the anticipated demand for sacrificial animals, the Director Sheep Husbandry was asked to ensure adequate availability throughout Kashmir Division ahead of Eid-ul-Adha. Wakf authorities were also directed to regulate designated sale locations properly to prevent traffic congestion and public inconvenience.

The Divisional Commissioner stressed extensive market inspections to curb overpricing and prevent the sale of substandard goods. He called for close coordination among enforcement agencies to ensure fair pricing and smooth supply of essential items, particularly mutton and poultry.

Special sanitation drives were directed in and around mosques, shrines, marketplaces, and residential areas to maintain cleanliness and festive ambience. Srinagar Municipal Corporation was instructed to deploy manpower for door-to-door collection of animal hides.

Traffic authorities were asked to implement effective traffic management plans around major religious sites and marketplaces to ensure smooth vehicular movement.

The Health Department was directed to deploy medical teams at major shrines and mosques to provide immediate healthcare assistance during large gatherings. Fire and emergency services, along with security personnel, were also instructed to ensure safety at congregation sites.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioners, SSPs, and senior officers from various departments including Sheep Husbandry, Animal Husbandry, FCS&CA, Health, KPDCL, PHE, SMC, PWD, Fire Services, ULB, Wakf Board, and Legal Metrology.
