Continuing its drive against the menace of drugs, Kupwara Police arrested four drug peddlers in separate operations, recovering a significant quantity of contraband substances from their possession.
A police spokesperson said that during a checkpoint at Halpal Road near Masjid Murshideen, officers intercepted two suspicious individuals who attempted to flee but were apprehended tactfully. Upon checking, a heroin-like substance was recovered. The accused have been identified as Umair Ibn Fayaz, son of Fayaz Ahmad Mir of Regipora, and Kashif Ul Islam, son of Mohd Sultan Bhat of Batergam.
In a separate operation, a police party from PS Lalpora intercepted two more suspicious persons during a naka at Rangward. Officers recovered a considerable quantity of charas-like substance. The accused were identified as Manzoor Ahmad Bhat, son of Ab Rehman Bhat of Krusan, and Aabid Shafi Mir, son of Mohd Shafi of Dharamwari.
All four have been arrested and shifted to their respective police stations, where they remain in custody. Cases under relevant sections of law have been registered, and further investigations are ongoing.
The J&K Police reiterated its commitment to eradicating drug-related crimes and urged the public to cooperate in this fight against the menace of drugs. (Agencies)
