New Delhi, September 30: In a major maritime anti-narcotics operation, the Indian Coast Guard and Gujarat ATS intercepted an Iranian boat west of Lakshadweep and seized 526 kg of heroin and methamphetamine valued at more than ₹3,000 crore in the international market.
Five Pakistani nationals operating the vessel were detained during the operation, which was conducted on September 25 following intelligence inputs. The Coast Guard used coordinated sea and air surveillance before launching a hot pursuit and boarding the suspicious dhow.
The vessel, crew and seized contraband were subsequently brought to Mumbai under armed escort for joint interrogation and further legal proceedings. The operation was carried out in coordination with the Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS)
